I saw this beautiful gem call Calby’s Hidden beauty for the first time scrolling through the downdiroadja Instagram feed. I immediately fell in love. I instantly indicate I needed to visit this hidden paradise. Hours turn into days, days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months, and I have yet to visit.

I was at my desk one day when I decided that I was going to visit the Calby’s Hidden beauty river. I invited Tami, my co-worker and she was ready to explore this paradise with me. At six o’clock on December 15, 2018, I ventured to Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

The final bus destination was in the Ocho Rios bus park where I met my Tami and her boyfriend. We were clueless to where Calby’s was so we asked a few taxi drivers where we could find Calby’s, and after asking a few questions, we were successful. We pray the cost to the river, and he stated JMD$500 per person, and we agreed.

We passed Blue Hole and continued our journey on a very lonely road. I asked the driver “Are we there yet “, and he replied, “yeah mon we soon reach”. I was looking for signs to ensure we were on the right path, and suddenly I saw the sign. We were so excited that we were near our destination.

The entrance is marked with a wooden sign, inscribed and painted with red, green and yellow near the cruising river are hammocks hovering from a couple of trees.

To enter the staggeringly breath-taking Calby’s River, an entrance fee of $1,000.00 Jamaican dollars is required. If you have good negotiation skills, you just might pay JMD $700.00.

The property is excellent for playing games because of the large amount of space.

Plenty picnic tables and benches are available on different sections of the property.

Our smile stretch across Cably’s property. We went to the office to pay our entrance fee .We continued onto the property, where we met our tour guide and he introduced us to Mr. Karl Colby Williams, the owner of the property.

Eclipsing the well-travelled Blue hole and Island Gully falls entertainment, rest a fairly large land ideal for group trips. This part of the exceptionally unblemished white river on the border of St. Ann and St. Mary is the perfect getaway to relax, rejuvenate and recuperate.

My Tami also had a blast. I was so happy to share this experience with them. They could not believe this gem existed on the island they call home.

All over the deep blue river are various trees and plant types. It’s no Blue Lagoon, but it is still beautiful. The area is perfect or Chukka cove activities.

I understood why I was super excited to explore this hidden gem after seeing a spectacular picture of the location on Instagram.

If you like swinging from a rope, this destination is perfect for you; no worries life are jackets available.

My first time visiting, and it was everything amazing.

There’s a see-saw and swing. I time travel my childhood days as I push myself forward and backwards on the swing.
