After a long and fulfilling day at Bath Fountain and Fishdunn Waterfalls, Jess and I retreated to our cozy hideaway—Casa Angola Airbnb, tucked away on the less-traveled Old Pera Road.
This Airbnb is situated along less-traveled routes, offering a secluded and tranquil escape from the usual tourist paths. This was my first time hearing about this area, and what a hidden treasure it turned out to be!
Spending Christmas and Boxing Day in St. Thomas was a soul-soothing way to close the year—filled with warmth, beauty, adventure and joy.
We made a conscious decision to fully appreciate and utilize the natural beauty that enveloped us.
Jess went live with her supporters while I used the opportunity to promote my crochet swimwear brand—Crochetholicss.
Jess, my ride-or-die model, absolutely rocked each piece. Let’s be honest, she was the moment!
Casa Angola gave us all the peace we needed. With a beautiful walkway lined with banana trees and a stunning view of the ocean, it was the perfect place to unwind.
With the ocean stretching out before us, the view was nothing short of breathtaking.
Jess rocked the swimwear effortlessly. Jess worked every angle like a pro. Make sure to check out her YouTube vlog from the trip!
We had a simple but comforting breakfast of white rice, baked beans, and saltfish, with fresh lettuce on the side—made even better by the ocean breeze.
Following a day of content creation and relaxation, we made our final stop in St. Thomas. I introduced Jess to a picturesque swimming pool located in the community of Airy Castle.
We ventured to England Gate, reaching it after a short walk through thick, whispering foliage. The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon, when the sun softens and the crowds thin. Our late afternoon arrival struck just the right note—almost perfect.
A few young boys from the community noticed our visit to the pool and took the opportunity to join in, eager to enjoy the refreshing water for themselves.
Fortunately, a familiar face was nearby—a kind woman I had met on my first visit. Jess gently asked if she could speak to the boys, kindly requesting a few quiet minutes for us to capture some photos. They agreed without hesitation, eager for their turn to follow.
Thankfully, we came prepared with insect repellent—this serene spot is also home to mosquitoes and other buzzing companions. If you ever plan to visit, be respectful of the community’s connection to the spring and always seek permission when needed.
Tucked within the lush embrace of Airy Castle lies a hidden treasure, lovingly known as Blue Hole Spring or simply The Pool. Its sapphire waters shimmer beneath a canopy of green, offering a quiet haven where time slows and nature sings. Yet beneath its beauty lies a layered past—this region once formed part of colonial plantations, where fertile lands drew British settlers in the 18th century. Among them was the Airy Castle and Somerset Estate, owned by John Burke, whose 1825 records reveal the painful truth of 113 enslaved lives that once toiled on these grounds.
After the abolition of slavery in 1834, the village began to breathe a new rhythm—one rooted in small-scale farming and self-sustenance. From the soil rose not just crops, but the quiet beginnings of a resilient and evolving community.
Tucked away in Airy Castle, the Blue Hole Spring glows with an ethereal blue, its waters fed by hidden underground springs that breathe life into this tranquil pool.
Though still a well-kept secret, the Blue Hole Spring has quietly found its way into the digital spotlight, as travelers share glimpses of its hidden charm across social media. For the local community, this sacred spring is more than a beauty—it’s a lifeline, used for bathing, washing clothes, and caring for livestock, weaving practicality into its natural allure.
With our hearts full and memory cards packed, we made our way back to Kingston. These two days in my beloved St. Thomas were filled with peace, creativity, connection, and historical reflection.
