“They are incomprehensible, the things of this earth. The lure of waters. The lure of fruits.” — Czeslaw Milosz,
I decide to venture to Morant Bay in St.Thomas with Bobo who I must say has an eye for photography. We took a coaster bus located on Orange Street across from St.William Grant Park downtown Kingston.
We then took a taxi to the community of Lysson. I looked through the window searching for the spot but we passed it. We asked the driver for a stop at Lysson Beach which is located across from Princess Margaret Hospital.
I have never been to Lysson Beach and yet and didn’t want to stay there. My heart was set on the location I've seen so many times on my way to Portland. I couldn’t stop because I am in public transportation or I plan to visit a particular location and go home.
So we left Lysson Beach and walked for ten minutes towards Morant Bay. Voila, we found it. I smile was so wide, it stretches to my eyes and deep into my soul. We had a perfect view of the Caribbean Sea. We had it all to ourselves.
A lady that lived close by told us that the beach is called Diamond Beach. I asked why it was given that name but she had no ideas.
I took one last look at Diamond Beach and continue our journey home.
Have you been to Diamond Beach? I would love to hear about your experience!
