Earliest Taino/Arawak settlement in Jamaica was believed to be in St Ann. Because of it’s bauxite, agriculture and livestock production and tourist attractions, it is said to be ‘The Garden Parish’ of the island. St Ann is well known as the source of Jamaican culture and history because of natives Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey on-going influence worldwide. The capital of the parish is St. Ann’s Bay. Christopher Columbus called it Santa Gloria on his second voyage in 1494.
