Exploring the Hidden Gem of Hazard Waterfall in St. Mary

“You don't have to be rich to travel well” – Eugene Fodor.

Introduction:

Nestled in the heart of Southwestern St. Mary, Hazard is a quaint rural farming community known for its cultivation of bananas and sugarcane. Amidst the lush greenery and vibrant ecosystem, Hazard boasts a hidden treasure – Hazard Waterfall. My journey to discover this elusive waterfall led me through a series of unexpected twists and turns, revealing the challenges and beauty that make Hazard Waterfall a true hidden gem. My YouTube channel will feature content showcasing enjoyable adventures in the St. Mary

The Quest Begins:

The first whispers of Hazard Waterfall reached my ears during a trip to Carron Hall in St. Mary. A chance encounter with a couple of young farmers sparked my curiosity.

Mentioning the highest waterfall in Jamaica, they spoke of Hazard Waterfall, challenging my assumption that Nonsuch Waterfall in Portland held that title.

The Expedition:

Eager to explore this hidden wonder, I sought the guidance of the locals. Equipped with cutlasses and determination, we traversed a long strip of road, crossed barb wires, and ventured into farmlands dotted with pepper trees.

The journey, however, took an unexpected turn when we encountered cow poop, a source of anxiety for me due to my fear of ticks.

Into the Wilderness:

Scaling another barb wire, we entered a dense forest where overgrown bushes and a thriving insect population awaited.

The farmers, armed with machetes, carved a path through the vegetation as we delved deeper into Hazard's untamed beauty.

The Search for Hazard Waterfall:

Despite the farmers' uncertainty about the trail, we pressed on, driven by the allure of Hazard Waterfall.

The adventure became a search for a hidden treasure that had eluded even the locals for years. Along the way, I learned about White Spring and another waterfall, adding layers of mystery to the expedition.

The Elusive Hazard Waterfall:

Days later, undeterred by previous setbacks, I sought assistance again. A chance meeting at Carron Hall High School connected me with a man willing to help.

With renewed hope, we embarked on a second attempt, navigating the hazardous terrain that earned the waterfall its name.

Harzard's Secrets:

The journey unveiled the secret behind Hazard Waterfall – it only flowed after heavy rainfall, requiring the nearby Dry Gully to overflow.

An elderly local shared this insight, emphasizing the importance of timing for witnessing Hazard's true beauty.

Conclusion:

The quest for Hazard Waterfall in the small farming community of Hazard in St. Mary proved to be an adventure filled with challenges and unexpected discoveries. Hazard Waterfall remains a hidden gem, waiting for the perfect moment when nature aligns to reveal its breathtaking beauty. My journey continues, armed with newfound knowledge and a determination to witness Hazard Waterfall in all its glory
