The Historic Folly Ruins

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots. Marcus Garvey

After seeing a Vlog by downdiroadja, I instantly wanted to visit the historic Folly Ruins.

Andrew and I ventured to Portland via the St.Thomas route. We took a Morant coaster bus located across from St.William Grant Park on Orange Street.

We then took a Morant a minibus from Morant Bay to Boston Beach. We past Turtle Bay in Long Road , Turtle Bay in Manchioneal and Reach Falls. I’ve always seen some beautiful spots but I never stopped because I am always going to a specific location.

This was my second trip to Boston Beach and we took some awesome pictures but I mistakenly deleted 99.999% of them. Just remembering gives me a headache.

After Boston Beach, we ventured to Folly Ruins. We to a taxi out the property of Boston Beach heading to Port Antonio. We passed Fairy Hill, Winnifred Beach, San San Beach, Frenchman’s Cove , Drapers, Trident Castle, Fair Prospect to Folly then onto Folly Road. We asked for a stop at the Folly Cricket Oval. We continue on a dirt path beside Folly Cricket Oval.

I must say the view was amazing. Guess what? I deleted most of those pictures. We continue to the old mansion. There was a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. We took a few pictures and went to Port Antonio to catch our bus ride back to Kingston.

Alfred Mitchell and Annie Tiffany his wife visited Port Antonio and fell in love with the lush Parish. They bought land at Folly Point and built a mansion. It had running water, glass window, steam-powered generator, wooden doors electric lights and marble floors etc. After living there for years, Annie Tiffany sold the property and after Alfred Mitchell died. The government of Jamaica finally obtained the Property.
