“What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? Our attitude toward it. Every opportunity has a difficult, and every difficulty has an opportunity.” – J. Sidlow Baxter
My brother Andrew and I decided to the Hydroelectric Plant on the Rio Cobre River and Falling Edge Waterfall in Saint Andrew on November 30, 2019.
We took a Stony Hill Coaster Bus from HWT on South Odeon Avenue. The bus then drove through the community of Constant Spring until we got to Stony Hill Square.
We asked the driver for a stop in front of the Tastee Patty Franchise. We then crossed the Stony Hill main road and onto Lipscomb Avenue where we got a Bowden Hill taxi.
The taxi drove on Airy Castle Road passing Taquila Bar on the right then turned left onto Bowden Hill Road. Our final stop was at Bowden Hill Primary School.
The taxi fare was JMD150.00 per person but we had to pay the driver JMD300.00 extra because he came off his route.
We did a fifteen-minute hike before reaching the freezing Falling Edge Fall. D'Ann, remember to carry a blanket🤣
There were arrows painted on the trees that pointed in the direction of the waterfall. Therefore, we didn't need a tour guide.
I saw Falling Edge Waterfall for the third time. It was like seeing it for the first time.
This location is great for photo-shoots but the mosquitoes will try to eat you alive. Always carry mosquito repellent, extra clothing, snacks, pain killer, alcohol and portable charger.
We felt like we were in the Blue Mountains. We took some amazing pictures and created so many memories. That's the beauty of travel. Memories you create are priceless.
We spent a few minutes and return through the bushes.
It was my brother's first trip to Bowden Hill so I felt like a tour guide. I showed him the path to the first Dam I ever wanted to visit which was Hermitage Dam.
We talked about my first and second visits to Bowden Hill, the beauty of the waterfall, stared at the mountains and breath the clean fresh air. These are the moments I live for.
We didn't take the driver's number because the walk to the bus stand was ten minutes away.
We waited a few minutes before we got a taxi to Stony Hill.
We had no issue getting transportation when we got to Stony Hill because a lot of busses operate on that route. Also, busses are coming from Saint Mary and Portland.
How many times have you visited Falling Edge Waterfall? Is it a location that you will always visit like me?
