“Whatever you do, don’t get stuck in routine.”
My German friend Ricarda, who drove me to Edinburgh Castle, deserves my sincere gratitude. In order to find a hidden waterfall, we first went to the "castle" ruins before traveling to Mason River.
My favorite natural attractions are waterfalls, but I've also enjoyed and learned a lot from the tours of the ruins in Jamaica. We were rewarded with a view of Edinburgh Castle's ruins after climbing a steep slope for about ten minutes with Ricarda. We packed up and moved to Mason River, which is located in northern Clarendon, after taking a look around and taking a few pictures.
In the Pedro district of St. Ann, according to my research, Edinburgh Castle was built by Lewis Hutchinson, the first known serial killer in Jamaica. Doctor Hutchinson, a Scotsman, arrived in Jamaica in the 1760s. The 'castle' has two stories and two oblong turrets with loopholes in the roofs. Lewis Hutchinson, the "mad doctor," could dispatch a lone onlooker with a single shot with ease.
The corpse was then thrown into a nearby sinkhole by his slaves as a final act of euthanasia. He often extended invitations to his victims to his castle despite having severe dementia.
The Doctor then became more brazen, shooting both his neighbor and a soldier, which was witnessed by a white colonist. The "mad doctor" made an attempt to board a ship that was about to leave port in order to escape. He was unfortunate to be detained, tried, and killed at the Spanish Town Gallows in 1773.
How many people Hutchinson killed is impossible to determine. A search of his home following his arrest, however, turned up 43 watches and a sizable amount of clothing.
